Easy Baked Beans for 1 or 2

"I wanted some "real" baked beans for dinner, but didn't want the leftovers from making my usual recipe since I was only cooking for 2. I played around and came up with this tasty scaled down version perfect us. This is even easy enough for busy weeknights."

  • Mix all ingredients together in small oven-safe dish.
  • Bake uncovered at 350 for 15 minutes, give or take a few minutes depending on whether you like your beans soupy or thick.

  2. I am a snob, who almost never makes anything out of a can, but baked beans are a lot of trouble for 2 people! Using Bush's veggie beans, this was comparable to my homemade baked beans, and with the time and work it saved me, I may never make them the old way again! I doubled the onion and put 2 slices of bacon on top, baked for about a half hour. Thanks!
     
  3. We used to make this when I was around 12 years old but we used raw onion and put bacon strips on the top. I think it originally came from my first grade teacher who was also a neighbour. I'm sure the onion flakes add a stronger onion punch! Was so glad to find this recipe here as I had all but forgotten about it.
     
  4. We really liked this dish and it was extremely quick and easy to prepare. Made exactly as written, but because we love onions I will add additional onion flakes next time.
