Easy Bisquick Chicken Legs

"This was adapted from a recipe on the back of the box. This is great cold and also good for potlucks. You could keep the chicken legs warm in a crock-pot, set on low."

  • Heat oven to 450°F Line cookie sheet with foil; spray with cooking spray.
  • In 1-gallon resealable food-storage plastic bag, stir together Bisquick® mix, salt, basil and garlic powder.
  • Dip half the chicken strips into egg; place in bag of Bisquick mixture. Seal bag; shake to coat. Place chicken on cookie sheet. Repeat with remaining chicken. Drizzle melted margarine over chicken.
  • Bake 12 to 14 minutes, turning after 6 minutes with pancake turner, until no longer pink in center.

Questions & Replies

  1. Your recipe for Bisquick Chicken Legs calls for Chicken Strips in the ingredient list. It states to bake for around 15 mins? Maybe with strips but not with legs. I don't think they'd be cooked through after only 15 or so minutes. Your recipe needs to be re-read and probably corrected. Is it for Strips or Legs?

  1. I made this on 12/29/11 for the " Bargain Basement " Event, and most importantly mine and my SO's dinner :). I did something to this recipe that I hardly do, the recipe was prepped exactly as it was written. But there was a problem in Step 3, it reads" Dip half the chicken strips into egg " but in the title and list of ingredients it mentions legs. With a novice Chef it might be a bit confusing.After baking the chicken for 15 minutes, it was still raw.After turning I added 15 more minutes.The extra 15 minutes seemed to get it done,but it wasn't crispy. So, the chicken was popped under the broiler to get the desired crispness. We both enjoyed the seasonings.Since my SO enjoys dark meat better than I do, he enjoyed it more.I bet this recipe would be really good using bone in chicken breasts.Thanks for posting and, " Keep Smiling :) "
     
  2. I made the following modification to the recipe and my family loved the end result! I used whole wheat flour plus 2 tsp of baking powder instead of Bisquick mix. I added pepper and citric acid to give it a zing to the flour mix. And the cooking time was 40 min instead of 15 min. The chicken looked so tasty with same look as the one here. And the flavor was delicious!
     
  3. We loved this chicken, it had great flavor and was super moist. I added more pepper than it called for but we love pepper. Wonderful recipe, I'm just sorry for the circumstances that I decided to make it.
     
  4. I was disappointed in this recipe. I cooked the chicken for over 20 minutes and it was still red and raw inside, and the coating never browned or got crispy. I was cooking "tenders" along with the legs, and those turned out in around 10 minutes, although we had to broil them for a minute to brown them up.
     
  5. I was really happy with how quickly the chicken legs were cooked. Im not really sure that I cared for the taste of the bisquick coating, but I think thats just me. Im a picky eater. I think this is a good recipe for a quick weeknight dinner and I think it would be a kid pleaser. Thanks for posting!

Hello! I am a resident of WA state, and I must say I love it here.... especially where coffee flows so freely! I live with my SO, Mark, and he has lived here since 2001 (originally from San Diego, CA). We live a quiet life and enjoy just about anything outdoors. I love to travel... sometimes just to pick a spot on the map and make a weekend out of it. Since I have been here, some of my favorite places to visit are Oregon and Washington (Cle Elum, Leavenworth, Spokane, Bonney Lake, Maple Valley, Issaquah, etc). There was a question posted in one of the forums about who I would love to have for dinner, right now. I answered God, Jesus, my mom, Grandma Lundin, Grandpa Lundin and Aunt Sig. They are my role models in life. Each has molded me into the person I am now. My fondest memories are spending Thanksgiving and Christmas-time at my Grandma's house, and the whole family around. SO MUCH good food! I lived in that small city my whole life and graduated from high school just outside of town. I have a strong restaurant background.. everything from Pizza Hut to a local italian restaurant called Vullo's. It seems, though, I have a passion for machining technology, even though I didn't go to school for that. I grew up with a local manufacturer of machine/tooling systems soldering/wiring circuit bds and assembling whole systems. That wasn't enough for me so, I went to college and obtained my AAS in Electrical Technology. The same company hired me back to work in their service dept as a technician. I had planned to go further to become an electromechanical engineer for the company, but I was laid off. I have been out of it so long, I would probably have to start over from scratch.. .that is the problem with electronics/technology.
