  1. These are so quick and easy for someone who might be afraid of yeast rolls. They are so light and fluffy. I have another recipe similar to this that adds more sugar, so I added 1 tablespoon of sugar and they taste more like a dinner roll to me (like my mom's yeast dinner rolls). I also didn't have self-rising flour, so I added 1/2 tsp baking soda, 1/4 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp baking powder to the flour (I didn't sift it or anything, just mixed it). If you decrease the sugar to varying degrees, you could add all sorts of ingredients and experiment--like cheese, herbs, spices, etc. These also would be great in a pinch for a potluck or last minute company.

  2. DH said "You can make these ANYtime." They were best after cooling, and I liked the rustic look of the top of these biscuit-like rolls. These really lend themselves to adding herbs to make specialty rolls...I think I'd like to try Italian. Oh, best of all, they are super easy and fast. You don't have to plan for them...just whip them together. I used 1 C flour, 1 1/2 t baking powder, and 1/2 t salt whisked together in place of the self rising flour. I also used light mayo. Thanks for a keeper.
