- 5 large onions, chopped
- 4 tablespoons shortening
- 2 lbs beef or 2 lbs pork, cut in 1-inch cubes
- 2 tablespoons paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1⁄4 cup flour
- 1 cup tomato juice
- 4 potatoes, cubed
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup red wine
- 1 bay leaf
directions
- In a large skillet, saute the onions in the shortening until brown.
- Add meat and lightly brown.
- Add paprika, salt, pepper, garlic, and flour, stirring to coat evenly, and fry for 5 minutes.
- Add tomato juice, potatoes, water, wine, and bay leaf.
- Cover and let simmer until potatoes are done.
