Extremely Simple Soup

"I made this with just whatever I had in the house. We were snowed in and it was the easiest, largest thing I could think of. It easily fed my family of three for a couple days."

  • 2 lbs hamburger (or ground venison if you prefer)
  • 5 slices bacon, cut in 1/4 inch wide pieces
  • 3 (16 ounce) cans mixed vegetables, drained
  • 1 (16 ounce) can green beans, drained (or any kind of vegetable you prefer)
  • 2 (16 ounce) cans tomato sauce
  • 1 (16 ounce) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 large onion, chopped

  • Place Mixed Vegetables, Green Beans, Tomato Sauce, Diced Tomatoes, and chopped onion in a large pot. Set to the side.
  • Brown hamburger meat in a large skillet. Drain excess fat off. Then place in large pot along with all the vegetables.
  • Slow cook the bacon until it is done, but not crisp or overly done. Scoop out of pan and place in pot with all other ingredients.
  • Place pot on Medium heat and allow to cook, stirring often.
  • Salt and pepper according to your taste.
  • When the onion has became tender, you're soup is done!
