Family Heirloom Aunt Alma's Lazy Day Pizza Crust

"Aunt Alma gave me the recipe when I was a newlywed. The bottom of the recipe card says "Call Aunt Alma if you're in trouble" along with her phone number. She was a feisty skinny-italian woman and I always loved visiting her because her house smelled so good. She always had some pot of something going!"

directions

  • Put 2 cups hot water in a large bowl, add 2 T sugar, add 2 pkgs dry yeast, let it set and it will dissolve. Add 2 T oil, add flour and salt and mix until it forms a ball and knead it 15 minutes. Put a big pan of hot water in the stove. and place bowl of dough on top. It will rise to double within 45 minutes.
  • Put Crisco in pan to grease and divide dough and spread it to edge.
  • The directions then say 400 degrees - 15 - bottom shelf 15-top shelf. I'm not sure if that means a full 30 minute cooking time. Unfortunately Aunt Alma is no longer cooking on this side.
