Farmer Salad (Farmersalat)

"I adopted this recipe and this is the original description "This is my copycat version, of what you can buy in German delicatessen as Farmersalat.I've tried it with fresh grated carrots as well, but found this version resembled the storebought version that I like the most"."

  1. We had record breaking heat today and this was the perfect salad to have with our grilled fish dinner. It's crunchy, refreshing and delicious. I didn't really measure when making this. Fresh carrots and celery were used and I just kept the ratio to about 2:1. (carrots:celery). The green onions were from my garden. Made for ZWT6.

  2. What a terrific little salad. I also used fresh vegetables. This went perfectly with the hot dogs we had for a quick supper. Thanks Lauralie. :) Made for the May Pool Party Tag in the Diabetic Forum

  3. Very nice fresh tasting salad. I'm glad I found this recipe. I used fresh veggies and real mayo. After tasting I also decided to add a pinch of salt. But I will definately be making this one again.

  4. O'hh la~la~this is a farmers dream, and everybody that tries this simple but packed with taste, crunchy salad will be rewarded with a terrific treat. There was nothing to change about this recipe; although I suspect you could easily use either Miracle Whip or good mayonnaise with not much variance. I already had cider vinegar/sugar made up, as I use this for cucumbers. I did use some red onion as suggested by the previous reviewer, just because it was so pretty. Thanks so much, Lori for a wonderful, exciting new recipe that is a delight :D

  5. It's like a slaw made with shredded carrots and celery. I used fresh carrots and celery, so I can't speak for how it would turn out with "jarred" veggies. I shredded the celery w/ a veggie peeler. Besides the green onions, I put in some thinly sliced purple onion for color. I used regular mayo, so I used more vinegar and sugar to make it more "Miracle Whip-ish." It's a nice change from the usual picnic salads. I'll make this again. Thanx for adopting this!
