  1. this was delicious! light and refreshing. i didn't have sumac but i did have zaatar and know that sumac is an ingredient, so i substituted it. i made extra salad so we could use it for falaffel.the hardest part of this recipe is the fine dicing, but this is very much like the israeli salads i remember.

  2. This is a delicious tasty salad that I usually enjoy at my favourite Lebanese restaurant. It's great to be able to make this at home!

  3. Excellent salad. One time I made it, I had no lemons. We all liked it better that way. There is something of a lemon tang in sumaq, and that was enough for us. I also left out the pita, and it was still a great salad. Quick and refreshing.

  4. Addicting! Add some minced fresh dill and cilantro too! And if you want to go a little Greek with it add some cubed feta cheese.

  5. What a gorgeous salad!! I baked the pita pieces in the oven (no oil) until they were toasted. This makes a great summertime salad!! Thanks!!

I moved out here many, many years ago from Ottawa, Canada - so I am blessed in having two wonderful heritages! I suffer from compulsive obsessive behaviour with regard to food and my psychiatrist thought it would be a good idea to find a 'society' where many have the same problem and try to find a cure. So far, I've copied a couple of thousand recipes from this site and my psychiatrist has thrown the towel in and refuses to answer the phone when I call. What did I do wrong? Got 3 kids that keep me on the go - 10 and under at this point (2008) - I may not get round to updating this for a few years, so you'll have to do your own maths. I teach English full-time and Greek Cookery part-time. I would like to make the cooking part of it full-time and the English Grammar part of it part-time. That's all for now.
