Ingredients Nutrition

  • 14 cup butter, softened
  • 1 (18 ounce) boxchocolate fudge cake mix
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 34 cup finely chopped walnuts
  • 48 chocolate star candies

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. Cut butter into cake mix in a large bowl until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Stir in egg and water until well blended.
  4. Shape dough into ½ inch balls; roll in walnuts, pressing nuts gently into dough.
  5. Place about 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
  6. Bake for 12 minutes or until puffed and nearly set.
  7. Place chocolate star in center of each cookie; bake 1 minute more.
