1 rutabaga

  • 1 small rutabaga
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar (or pancake syrup)
  • salt and pepper

directions

  • Peel the rutabaga and cut it into small cubes, about 1/2-inch.
  • In a heavy skillet, melt the butter and saute the cubes over medium heat until brown on all sides, stirring often.
  • Add the sugar or syrup, cover and let cook over low heat, stirring occasionally for 20-30 minutes or until soft. Add salt and pepper to taste. Serve.

  1. Loved this! I'm used to cooking my rutabagas in bacon and water, and this is a wonderful change. DS wasn't fooled....he wouldn't eat them, but I thought they are delicious. They look beautiful too. Made for the Unrulies.
     
  2. I love rutabaga and this is a very yummy recipe. My son was sure that it was small potatoes pan fried LOL I didn't use salt and pepper. I used brown sugar and unsalted butter. Thanks Debbie :) Made for the Zwizzle Chicks of ZWT
