Flavorful Crock Pot Chicken

"This is a delicious crock pot recipe that I found on this site, but adapted it to my own tastes. It smells great while it is cooking! After cooking it for 3 hours, I took out the chicken and placed it in a serving dish, then took the sauce and added cornstarch to make it thicker. The sauce was then used to pour over the chicken or the rice. Some other ideas I have, which I would like to try sometime, would be to cut up the chicken into strips and then add stir-fry veggies to the chicken and sauce. This would be like a stir-fry! (one that would take a while though) Who knows, maybe we will try it sometime!"

  1. Great taste. We liked this one. Remember to stir occasionally. I found my chicken sticking together. Second time I made this I tried the stir-fry approach. Cooked the chicken about 2 hours then added some frozen snow peas, onions & mushrooms. Served over rice with egg rolls on the side. My husband loves this and there's always enough for lunch the next day.

  2. Too sweet for our taste.

  3. This was very good. I suggest changing the recipe name though. It's really a sweet -and-sour type of sauce. I had to substitute lemon and lime juice for the Sprite, and Worchestshire sauce for the soy sauce. These worked well. I think it was a bit over done after 3 hours in the crockpot on high. Next time I'll try 2.5 hours. Thanks for posting. DH loved it.

  4. This was very easy and good. My son cleaned his plate. I was in a hurry and looking for a recipe that I had all of the ingredients for. This was it. I cut the chicken breasts while frozen and put them in the crockpot frozen. I added the other ingredients except for the soy sauce (just added a tsp of salt). I also added 3 cups of frozen stir-fry vegetables. After 3 hours on high, I served the chicken & vegetables over corkscrew noodles (b/c I was out of rice, lol) anyway... very good flavor. Thank you Bec

  5. I'm sorry, but we weren't wild about this one. I am giving it 3 stars because it certainly is easy and relatively quick (for a crock pot recipe). However we found it too spicy and too sweet at the same time. I used only about 2/3 cup of brown sugar, but it was still too sweet. DD kept whining about the vinegar and DH about the sugar! It wasn't bad, just not to our tastes.
