Freezer Cucumbers

"This is a old family recipe. My great aunt Hazel has been making these for a very long time. They are just wonderful. My mom uses a little of both."

  1. I read some of the other reviews and normally don't use sugar at all except for hummingbird water but used apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt and pepper flakes and it was delicious....would make it again and will but will add a few other things since I have so many cukes from the Memorial Garden I made in memory of my dear sweet son Tim who passed away......

  2. Wow! Is all I can say. As a kid I hated what we used to call "Cucumber salad" Im not sure if it is the way you made it or what but its soooo yummy! I used Apple Cider Vinegar myself, because its what I had on hand. With the sugar though, it was really tasty! I only added peeled and sliced cucumbers and diced onions. Still turned out really good. Thanks so much for sharing!

  3. I made these yesterday and chilled them in the fridge and they tasted wonderfully refreshing, sweet, and crisp! Great for the hot summer days of August! I froze the rest for my DD`s engagement party which is in 12 days. So I`ll be back to let you know how they are when defrosted!

  4. The recipe as written was much too sweet for our tastes, even though I only used 1 1/2 cups of sugar. I added 2 more cucumbers and another 1/2 cup of vinegar to balance it out.

  5. Absolutely the best! We had an over abundance of cucumbers this year and this will bring a taste of summer all year long. Thnx for posting, Julie Leo.
