Freezer Microwave Rice

"You can add a protein such as cooked chicken, cooked beef, cooked turkey or cooked sausage to the recipe. Its a good way to use up leftovers. Use 2 1/2 cups cooked meat for each recipe of rice."

  • Choose which variation you plan to prepare.
  • Combine the rice, water and all ingredients for either beef or chicken variations in a large microwave-safe dish.
  • For a single batch, microwave on high 6 minutes.
  • Stir.
  • Microwave at 50 percent power for 10 minutes.
  • For a double batch, microwave on high 9 minutes.
  • Stir.
  • Microwave at 50 percent power for 14 minutes.
  • Remove from microwave oven and let stand for 5 minutes.
  • To Freeze: Place rice in rigid containers.
  • Allow to cool.
  • Seal, label and freeze.
  • To Serve: Thaw overnight in the refrigerator.

  1. The mircrowave version of this didn't work the best for me either- though I do like it on the stovetop (increasing the liquid to 2 cups)
     
  2. This didn't really work from the freezer, but as another user suggested, it may be great to just make it without freezing.
     
  3. I don't really like this recipe from the freezer so instead I make up little baggies of the dry ingredients then when I want rice I just take one bag and add the Water and nuke it. I love the flavor!
     
  4. It may just be me, but this didn't work out for me at all. The rice didn't coook the way it should.
