  1. Heat oven to 425. Prepare pastry.
  2. mix sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in large bowl.
  3. Stir in apples.
  4. Turn into pastry-lined pie plate.
  5. Make crumb topping by combining flour, brown sugar, and butter until crumbly.
  6. Bake 50 minutes. In last 10 minutes of baking to prevent excessive browning, cover with aluminum foil.
  7. Serve warm.
