  1. The name of this recipe really had me hoping for a rich, melt-in-the mouth cookie. However, I found this dough hard to work with because it was so dry. I ended up adding in approx. another 1/4 C. of butter. I also made the mistake of not reading the recipe all the way through. When I was ready to shape and bake the cookies, I realized there was no info on the size to make them, and no time given to bake them! I made them in the standard "walnut" size and guessed on the time. It took about 12 minutes to lightly brown the edges. The cookies turned out to have a very mediocre taste to them. I was diasppointed.

  2. This is the same recipe as "Creamy Christmas Butter Cookies" by Whimsical Bakehouse. Same exact ingredients and amounts. I plan to try these soon. Chilling dough isn't in the W.B. recipe I found. Directions: Mix butter, sugar and vanilla just till blended. Add in egg. Add dry ingredients to wet at low speed till combined. Shape dough into 3/4" balls. Arrange 2" apart on greased cookie sheets. Flatten each ball with a fork. Sprinkle tops with red or green sanding sugar. Bake 8-10 minutes at 350 degrees or until lightly colored around edges. Let cool in pan for 5 minutes then transfer to a wire rack.
