- Prepare pan or griddle for cooking.
- Beat eggs. Add milk, salt, and flavoring.
- The bread may be cut in rounds with a doughnut cutter.
- Dip bread into the mixture and place on griddle. Brown each side of the bread.
- Serve hot sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon. Garnish with jelly or serve with pie cherries, sweetened, slightly thickened with cornstarch, and flavored with lemon; with applesauce flavored with cinnamon and cloves; or with maple syrup.
