- 4 cups peeled sliced fresh peaches
- 2 cups sugar, divided (see directions)
- 1⁄2 cup water
- 1⁄4 lb butter (1 stick)
- 1 1⁄2 cups self-rising flour
- 1 1⁄2 cups milk
directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Combine peaches,1 cup sugar and water in 2 qt saucepan and mix well.
- Bring to boil reduce heat and simmer for 10 minute.
- Remove from heat.
- Put butter in 13 x 9 x 2 inches baking dish and place in oven to melt.
- Mix remaining 1 cup sugar,flour and milk slowly to prevent lumping.
- Pour over butter.

- Spoon fruit on top.
- Gently pour syrup over fruit.
- Batter will rise to top during baking.
- Bake 30 - 45 minute.
