  4. This is a very easy recipe & can be made on the spur of the moment since most ingredients are on hand. I didn't have any cloves but even so, it was great over ice cream.

Tweaks

  1. These apples are really good. I substituted apple pie spice for the spices and added a sprinkle of brown sugar at the end. I've always cooked apples in water or juice, but this is much better. Great recipe!

  2. Great recipe! I used this dish as a topping for the oatmeal cottage-cheese recipe that I found here, too. It was great. I did not have nutmeg, so I used pumpkin spice instead of the nutmeg and omitted the cinnamin (since pumpkin spice has cinnamin in it already). It turned out wonderful. Thanks for the recipe!

  3. This recipe fit the bill to surprise my wife and daughter with cooked apples. Had to improvise with ingredients in the kitchen. Substituted 1/4 cup brown sugar for sugar, and 1 tablespoon orange juice for lemon juice. Otherwise followed the recipe to a "T". Delicious! Definitely will be using it again. Thanks.
