  • Pour oil into a frying pan so it is about 1/4 in thick and turn stove on to medium-high.
  • In a small mixing bowl, whisk together eggs and milk.
  • In a separate mixing bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, salt, and steak spice.
  • Dip tomato slices in egg, then transfer to flour mixture until coated. Repeat this process a second time, so the batter will be thick on outside of tomatoes.
  • Place coated tomato slices into frying pan.
  • Brown on both sides.
  • Remove slices from pan and drain on paper towels.
  • Serve hot (with ranch dressing if desired).

  1. This is a great recipe!! I used Italian spices because I had no steak spice and it turned out great. I cut the tomato slices and spread them on paper towels to absorb excess liquids and then dipped them in the eqq batter and then the dry mix. It was great!! They turned out crisp and brown. Will def. use this again!! Thanks KitchenGossip for a keeper!!
