  1. This recipe was a little bland for me. Also, the plantains cooked really fast. It probably had something to do with the size that I cut them.

  2. These are a great breakfast instead of fried potatoes. I made 1/2 of a plantain following this recipe, and the other 1/2 without the salt but sprinkling with sugar before removing from the pan (to see which recipe I liked better). I actually really liked both. This one is better as a breakfast or side dish in place of potatoes or rice. The other would make a great dessert or sweet snack. Great either way!

  4. Mmm, I love fried pllantains! I always had them as a snack in Trinidad and my mother still makes them for me today. The smell is so sweet and fills the whole house. This snack is great tasting alternative to any junk food and very easy to prepare.

  5. Brings me right back to Jamaica, mon! Instead of cutting them into 4, I slice them really thin into 'chips'and then fry them... one hotel we stayed at in Ocho Rios (Shaw Park) served them like this for Happy Hour every night!! Yummy!
