Questions & Replies

  1. Do you cover the crock with lid when baking or use a thin cotton towel. First time trying so I'm wanting to be sure I'm doing it right.

  1. My loaf pans didn't fit inside my crockpot, so I amended this recipe a bit. I used Rhodes frozen dinner rolls (9 of them) inside a 1.5 quart stainless steel bowl. I tossed the rolls with olive oil, Italian seasoning and grated parmesan cheese before placing them in the bowl, then followed the timeline of the recipe. These were great little pull-apart rolls. Would have been perfect with soup or a pasta dish, but hubby ate them all as a snack. LOL I had wondered about the rolls browning in the crockpot, but the oil does the trick during the last 20-30 minutes. These were very good and will be made again.

  2. This recipe is great, easy to make, convienent, and economical. The bread is wonderful and fun to prepare. I sliced a piece while it was still hot and ate the bread with some butter that was melting. MMMM! I love bread. Thanks for sharing.

  3. Intriguing way to bake bread that I just had to try! This turned out very well. I let the dough rise on low for 2 hours exactly, and let it bake on high for 2 1/2 hours. It was perfectly baked inside and nicely browned on the outside. I used a loaf of white bread, so I was a little suprised that the interior of the bread was a light brown when baked, like the color of wheat bread. My loaf pan did not fit in my medium-sized crockpot, so I used my large crockpot. When trying this recipe, make sure you check that your loaf pan will fit.

  4. I have tried thiw twice and it hasn't turned out good. I have tried a couple different timings on it. The crust gets really hard, not at all like if baked in the oven. Even right out of the crock pot the crust was really hard. Maybe it is the brand of bread dough that I am using. Guess some day I will have to try it in the oven.
