Fruit Smoothie - by Alexandra and Zoe

"My daughters (8 and 6 years) have been experimenting with different smoothies and this is their favorite 'potion'. Any fruit can be used in place of the strawberries. The flaxseed meal adds a nice crunch and is also a great substitute for fish in the daily diet as it carries same benefits. It is tasteless and can be added to many different kinds of foods (cereal, yoghurt, smoothies, meat sauces etc)"

  1. I didn't realize that we didn't have flaxseed until I had already started to make this, so I just left it out. Next time I think I will reduce the amount of honey and double the strawberries. Even using Greek yogurt, it was a little too sweet and the strawberry flavor wasn't strong enough. I did throw it back into the blender with half a dozen extra strawberries and that really helped. Thanks Alexandra and Zoe for a cool, yummy treat.

  2. Very nice way to start the day! The flaxseed is a nice healthy addition that adds just a little nuttiness to this tasty smoothie. Made as written, freezing the banana when I froze the strawberries. Thanks for the post.

  3. This was great! I made it in the morning and used hemp seed instead of flax seed and used a frozen berry mix instead of just strawberries, since it's what I had on hand. Made for ZWT7.

  4. Great fruity smoothie! The flaxseed gave this an interesting texture as well as a nutrition boost. I used apple juice instead of honey as I don't like my smoothies too thick. Thanks for sharing this tasty recipe!

  5. Yum! I made this for 4 yr old DD who gulped it down with no hesitation, a lovely combo, perfect for an afternoon snack!
