Garlic Shrimp Dip

"This is wonderful!!! We have it at every family gathering . One year at Thanksgiving I decided to try a few new appetizers. My dad walked in and asked "Where's the shrimp dip, you didn't make shrimp dip?" It is so quick and easy and so few ingredients you probably have them all on hand."

  1. Really good and so quick to make! I used light sour cream, canned shrimp, and lemon pepper instead of normal pepper. I also added a few generous dashes of tabasco and chives. This was good with chips and I cannot wait to try it with celery sticks and a dollop on cucumber slices. This is a really unique way to serve shrimp dip, we thoroughly enjoyed it.

  2. We have been making shrimp dip for years..we add 1/3 mayo to 2/3 sour cream...chopped hard boiled eggs and vinegar...enough to give the dip a little tart....my entire family loves it..I also use canned salad shrimp slightly crumbled. So good.

  3. This shrimp dip is good - but I prefer to use all fresh ingredients.

Tweaks

  1. I have made a dip similar to this for years. I do a few things differently: I grate a yellow onion into medium bowl, instead of using green onions, and add 2 - 3 drops LA Hot sauce (or Tabasco Sauce). I also use 2 - 3 fresh garlic cloves that have been pressed; 3 oz softened Philly cream cheese and 1 cup Best food mayo; 1 1/2 tsp lemon juice and 12 ounces fresh salad shrimp that are finely smashed and combined with the rest of the ingredients.
