  • In a large heavy skillet with lid, warm canola oil over medium-low heat.
  • Add the ginger, cinnamon, and cloves. Cook, stirring, for 10 to 15 seconds.
  • Add the cabbage, apples, maple syrup, and salt.
  • Stir, reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for about 30 minutes.
  • After the 30 minutes, add the vinegar and increase heat to medium.
  • Cook for about 5 minutes, or until most of the liquid evaporates.
  • Sprinkle each serving of cabbage with 2 tablespoons of the pumpkin seeds.

  1. i really enjoyed this side dish, the flavors blended well and it was almost like a sweet and sour dish. i'm not sure about the pumpkin seeds though, so next time i will leave them out.

I live in Herndon, VA with the oldest of my 6 sisters. We take turns cooking on a weekly basis. I get many "repeat dinner" requests from my sister and co-workers, though and a lot of them are from here. This is abso-tively, posi-lutely my most favorite recipe site! I enjoy reading and cooking. I also enjoy playing the Lottery- which I know I'm going to win....any day now....As soon as I do I will build and stock my dream gourmet kitchen. Then I'll cook and bake to my heart's (and stomach's) content. I am searching for the "perfect" recipe. I know the research may take a while, but I'm willing to make the necessary sacrifices of time and waistline to achieve my objective.
