Ingredients Nutrition

  • For the Simple Sugar
  • 34 cup sugar
  • 12 cup water
  • 2 inches fresh gingerroot, peeled
  • For the Topping
  • 14 cup real maple syrup
  • 2 apples, cut into bite sized pieces

Directions

  1. ------Forthe Simple Sugar-------.
  2. Bring sugar and water to a boil in a small saucepan over moderate heat.
  3. Add ginger and reduce heat to simmer.
  4. Stir until sugar dissolves and ginger.
  5. infuses syrup, about 2 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and take out ginger.
  7. Yield: 3/4 cup ginger syrup.
  8. -------Forthe Topping-------.
  9. Cut 1 apple into small/bite-size pieces.
  10. Put apple pieces and ginger syrup in small saucepan over Low to Medium heat.
  11. Add maple syrup Heat, stirring often, until apples are tender, but not mushy.
  12. Spoon warm apples and syrup over vanilla ice cream.
