"This is a nice family favorite handed down from the 40s I found this recipe in an old book I bought and it was dated 14-4-40, I have tried this over and over again and it remains a great hit at parties."

  1. Glad to find a recipe without treacle, which I find harder than golden syrup to measure out. Easy to make, takes tweaks very well. I added some chopped preserved ginger, cinnamon and subbed a couple of teaspoons of caster sugar with dark muscavado. Rolled out dough to about 5mm, made lots of smallish stars, and larger rounds. BF very appreciative.
