4 9-inch cake
ingredients
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 tablespoons baking powder
- 2 1⁄2 teaspoons baking soda
- 4 teaspoons salt
- 9 cups sifted flour
- 3 tablespoons cinnamon
- 3 tablespoons ginger
- 1 teaspoon allspice
- 1 teaspoon clove
- 1 1⁄2 cups shortening
directions
- Sift all dry ingredients into a large bowl, cut in shortening with a pastry blender or fork as for pastry. Store in refrigerator. When ready to use spoon 2 7/8 cups of mix into a bowl, (spoon lightly). In another bowl, mix 1 beaten egg, 3/4 cup molasses, and 3/4 cup boiling water. Stir wet ingredients into dry, beat until smooth. Bake in greased 9-inch square pan for 35 minutes at 325°F

<br>I guess the dish that I am famous for is my Christmas ham - my family all comes home for Christmas, and if i don't have my ham they are dissapointed, and my grandson wants the pistachio squares!!! so I guess that is the dishes that I'm famous for.
