  1. My son was in 4th Grade in 1998-His teacher handed out this recipe the day before Thanksgiving. It was such a hit that we serve it X4 every year. We add a cup of cheddar-saute mushrooms/celery/sweet onions. Bathtub size casserole dish. When done we sprinkle a light topping of more cheddar until just melted. Oohey Gooey Goodness for Now 4 Adult "boys"!!!

  2. 1998 - My son brought this home from school the day before Thanksgiving. After Thanksgiving he brought it to me and asked if we could make it. I tripled the recipe-added shredded cheddar to the mix (with a thin layer on top the last 5 minutes) and a Family Tradition was Born!! As Adults my sons have added Sauted Mushrooms, Celery, Sweet Onions. Gruyere Cheese.......The Possibilities Have Been Endless!! One adjustment I have always used a little less Onion Soup Mix then called for.

  3. Hey you guys stole my recipe :-) only mine has broccoli and cheese

  4. My daughter also brought this home from school and was insistent that we make this with our turkey leftovers. I followed the recipe as stated (with uncooked rice), and after 45 minutes covered, it was soupy and undone. I undid the foil and placed it over the casserole loosely and cooked for another 20ish minutes. It was perfect! My family is finicky when it comes to casseroles, but even my picky daughter loved it. I did add some black pepper to the ingredients. Also, I saw where someone else recommended adding bread crumbs as a topping for the last 20 minutes of cooking. I didn't try this but thought it was a good idea. Cute project and tasty recipe!
