- 1 cup self-raising flour
- 20 g cold butter
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg

Syrup
- 1 1⁄2 cups water
- 20 g butter
- 1⁄2 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon golden syrup
directions
- To make dumplings:.
- Put flour and butter in food processor. Blend until mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.
- Add milk, salt and egg and process until dough is formed.
- Transfer dough to board and knead lightly.
- Shape into 12 balls.
- To make the syrup:.
- Put all syrup ingredients into a large saucepan and bring to the boil.
- Stir until sugar dissolves.
- Put the dough balls into the syrup saucepan in a single layer and cook over medium heat for 15 minutes.
- If necessary add water.
- To serve put the sumplings into bowls and spoon remaining syrup over.
