Directions

  1. Melt lard and cool slightly.
  2. Place egg, sugar, molasses and lard in large bowl.
  3. Stir until well blended.
  4. Sift together baking powder, baking soda, salt and flours.
  5. Add to molasses mixture in 3 increments, alternating with water and stirring well after each addition.
  6. Pour batter into greased loaf pan.
  7. Bake at 350°F until no longer doughy (approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour).
