  1. This is EXACTLY the recipe I was searching for that my own grandmother used to make in the 50's and 60's. I tried this particular recipe by Caryn and they came out beautifully. Very easy to make. Wouldn't change a thing!

  2. Nice recipe. Lots of tasty spices and I found the cookies stayed soft. Used berry sugar for the topping.

  3. I've been looking for a hermit recipe with buttermilk - this one is super. I used dates instead of raisins, and baked mine in a 9x13 pan for 30 minutes,(just to save time) then piped on a maple flavored glaze. The end result was wonderful - thanks for this recipe - it's a keeper !

I live in to Jacksonville, FL with my husband, 2 daughters (17 and 11), 4 cats, and 2 dogs. My favorite things to make are cookies/bars and pound cakes. I have had a great time cooking since discovering Recipezaar January 2002. This is a picture of my youngest cat, Lily. She is my sweet sweet little baby.
