Grandma's Quick Strawberry Pie

"This recipe is one of my Grandma's. I found this in the Shoe box my Mom keeps all of her treasured recipes in. Grandma made this several times when we would come for a visit. Plan ahead, this pie needs about 4 hours to set up."

  1. Delicious! I used a mixture of frozen blueberries and strawberries that I had still frozen from last summer, I did drain them completely and used cranberry juice in place of the hot water, wonderful treat Kitty, thanks for sharing!

  2. A very delicious and easy dessert that I will make again and again! It reminds me of a very yummy recipe I make using cool whip, but since I don't like the taste of cool whip, the vanilla ice cream makes this twice as mouth watering for me! If you like strawberry creaminess, you should try this pie!! :) Thanks kittycatmom!!

  3. What a great standby recipe! I had frozen strawberries, and ice cream - it was strawberry ice cream, and some jelly as well as some individual mini pie crusts - et viola, a lovely dessert for lunch today, for my "Girlie" day in!! My pie filling was pinker than it should be, due to the strawberry ice cream, but what a great dessert idea - thanks to your grandma Kittycatmom, all of us girls had a taste of summer for dessert! Loved this - made this due to a lovely request! FT:-)

  4. This was really tasty and was great for my DFIL's diabetes. I used the light Jell-o and low-fat ice cream. Well, actually I only used 1 cup of the ice cream because a sneaky person in my house ate the rest of it! I used low fat strawberry yogurt for the rest of the ice cream, but that might be why it's a little runny. I used mostly strawberries, but also had some raspberries and blueberries. Made for "Everyday is a Holiday". Thanks!
