Granny Smith Brownies (Blondies)

"Haven't tried these because of the amount of sugar in them, but will try with Splenda, or a combination of Splenda and sugar. Remember to adjust cooking time if using Splenda. Time does not include cooling time."

  1. Never had a blondie before that I can recall, but these are very tasty and remind me more of a sweet apple bread. They seem to be missing the chewy denseness of brownies that I like so much, but I will make this again as apple bread because I liked the flavor a lot. Thanks for the recipe!!

  2. Just loved the smell of these baking---truly *autumn* around here. I used apples from our own HoneyCrisp trees which is always right up my alley! And golden instead of dark raisins, so they don't show up in the cake as well as dark would, but they plumped up so nicely. Would've given this 5-stars except I was frustrated by the mixed up ingredients listed....I like them listed in order called for in the recipe; things together one right after each other. So, other than that...this was/is an excellent recipe!

  3. These are delicious! Thanks to Miley's help I was able to change this a bit for my diabetic ss. I chose to put One part sugar and 2 parts splenda. Everybody loved how moist and how good they came out. You could not tell I changed this recipe for him. Highly recommend on making this nice dessert.

  4. Oh these are so good. I wanted to make these more diabetic friendly, so I swapped out the sugar for splenda and the oil for applesauce, which really went quite well with the apples in the mix already! I used craisins and pecans too. They didn't set up quite as firmly as I'd like to have had them, but with the changes made, it is to be expected. I will be making these next Tuesday night for a church group that is focusing on living healthy. I think it will turn a few heads when they see this dessert heading their way! 5. Wonderful recipe mikekey, we really enjoyed these brownies. I did use chopped pecans and golden raisins since that is what I had on hand. The amount of sugar did raise an eyebrow but like the other reviewer mentioned they were not overly sweet at all. I think craisins would be very tasty and will give them a try next time.
