Granola

"This is my husbands favorite breakfast cereal. Also good eaten out of hand. This is one that my mom was famous for. I usually use pecans or walnuts but almonds would also be good. Use a combination of whatever nuts you like."

  1. This granola is. so. good. Favorite additions/substitutions include mixed seeds, millet, and ground flaxseed for the nuts, sesame seeds, and wheat germ, respectively. Total winner.

  2. This recipe is wonderful, I've made it once and already I'm craving it again. I used dried cranberries and rasins. For my second batch I'm going to try dried blueberries. Thanks for the great recipe!

  3. Very good. I only made 1/2 recipe to increase ease of handling. I used a full recipe 's worth of coconut, no sesame seeds, and didn't use maple syrup since I didn't have any. Even with reduced sweetener, the granola was quite tasty - though next time I will try to have the syrup on hand as that will taste even better! Thank you. : )

  4. Excellent granola!! A lovely, crunchy, toasty treat that is wonderful by the bowlful or handful. My nut of choice was pecans. I omitted the sesame seeds as I didn't have any and didn't bother adding any dried fruit since I didn't feel like it needed it. The prebaked mixture is a lot wetter than other granolas I've made so I was a little worried it wasn't going to dry out properly. I baked it about 45 minutes because of this but considering how much it crisped up once it was cool, I think I could have taken it out 5-10 minutes earlier. Make sure you spray your pans!! I did the first one but forgot to spray the second one and the granola really stuck. Thanks for sharing this flavorful recipe! I'll be making this one again!
