I was in a hurry, and hadn't a lot of options, for dinner tonight. I was directed to this specific recipe from SuperCook. My mom used to make something similar to this, but I had forgotten all about it. I used 1.5 lbs ground beef, 1/2 cup flour, plenty of salt and pepper, a bit of garlic salt, and subbed beef broth for half of the milk. I prepared white rice using beef broth, butter and salt and pepper. I served the hamburger gravy over the rice with a green salad on the side.

This is similar to the "recipe" I use, where I never measure or write down, so I tried this out tonight to get a "real" recipe. I used 1 lb hamburger, 1/4 c flour, and about 1 1/2 cups skim milk to get the consistency we like. I also like to microwave the milk to warm it up before stirring it into the gravy. We served it over mashed potatoes - we save the biscuits for the sausage gravy. Thanks for posting - I'm glad to have a real recipe to refer to!

I live in Rising Star Texas,I have 2 gorgeous daughters, Kristina 21 and Katrina 18. Gods greatest gift to me EVER. I guess I was born cooking. Cannot remember when I didn't. I am at home in any kitchen and totally relaxed. Cooking makes me HAPPY. and I love to cook for others. I work @ First Baptist Church there, I raise all kinds of birds, chickens, peacocks, ducks, turkeys, I have a cockatiel(Marvin), a rottweiler(Beavis, because he is a BUTTHEAD) A shelty (Maggie)2 cats, Tommy & Tinkerbell, which I call Tink or Puss. My husband is great and the sweetest person ever. I really do not think he knows how to get mad. Or he didn't before he met me anyway. My pet peeves are stupid people with an attitude. My favorite cookbook is a really old BH&G that I got from my mother over 25 years ago. I am only 41, but I started cooking @ age 7. If I had a month off...HMMM. I would definately go to New Braunfels Texas and stay at the River Run condos and float the river all day every day and cook a little.
