directions

• Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
• Make the sauce by putting the tomatoes, 2 crushed garlic cloves, cinnamon, bay leaf and shallots in a pan and bring to the boil, simmer for 10/15 minutes, if there is not much juice from the tomatoes add a little water.
• Add 4 tablespoons olive oil, salt and pepper.
• Remove the bay leaf.
• Pour the sauce into a flat ovenproof dish, (or individual serving dishes if you prefer), sprinkle the cheese over the sauce and put in the oven.
• Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil and stir-fry the prawns or fish, the remaining garlic and green onions until the prawns/fish are cooked, add salt, pepper and the Ouzo.
• Take your dish (es) out of the oven, put the prawn mixture on top of the Feta, garnish with thyme, onion tops, olives and serve with your favorite Mediterranean bread.
• This will serve 4 as a starter, or 2 as a main course.

1. This dish is absolutely delicious! I made it to use up some frozen shrimp I had left over from Christmas. The ouzo is a nice touch. We had it with pita bread and a good red wine.

2. DELICIOUS, quick and easy! I ate this with some good seeded bread (for sopping) that I bought at a nearby International market. Bibs should be required :) ~ I used a pound of shrimp with the tails on and they were quite messy to eat! As soon as the leftovers cool down I'll snatch all the tails off so eating it tomorrow will be less messy. :) I had no Ouzo or Pernod, so I added one heaping tablespoon of dry toasted fennel seed and it gave the dish a slight licorice flavor! Made for Pets'R'us MAY LiveSTRONG COOK-A-THON support event in the Photo Forum.

3. I had to use a small regular onion as I had no shallots, I also had no ouzo so used a tablespoon of lemon juice. Not the same I know, but it worked fine. I made mine with fish and we enjoyed it a lots thanks Pets. Like Mirj, we love olives, so I was generous with those.

4. I love Greek salad, and I love Nile perch. Put the two together and you've got a very original meal. I don't like the taste of Ouzo so I left it out, but aside from that I pretty much followed the recipe (except I inundated it with black olives, we love black olives). I actually served this cold, and with some crusty bread and sweet butter we have a wonderful meal!

Hello, my name is Bonnie and I am a very beautiful cat as you can see if you look at the picture at the top of this page.... What??.. I am supposed to talk about you??? But it says here: About Me!! Well all right then ...... My mom is Dutch and has moved to England in October 2007, after living 15 years in the Netherlands with my English dad. They don’t have any human children and “created” their own family, which means I have to share them with Hannah, she is a 6 years old tortie cat, Abby the dog, she is a 9 year old Beagle, and a one year old black Miniature Pincher named Poppy, I refuse to tell you my age but I am a georgious lilac British Shorthair cat!! It is obvious she adores pets just by looking at her name she uses on Zaar (many on Zaar call her Pets or Petsie Poo), her name in real life is Annelies and that is a common Dutch name. My mom always liked to cook, but since she joined Zaar it got out of control, and it doesn’t help that she is disorganized. Printed recipes everywhere in the house, the recipe binders have got bigger and just between you and me, her hips too!!! I have lived in Holland all of my life until now, but they lived in several different countries/places:- desert and coastal Oman, up North and West in Holland, Vancouver-Canada, Aberdeen- Scotland and in Norway they lived in Bergen and Oslo. We have all moved together to England, as you can see I’ve already learnt the language! I heard her say to Dad that this is the last time she moved to another country...she's had it with moving from one place to another! ( its her age...she's getting grumpy) Mom is 55 years old but I always hear her say that the date of her birthday does not mean that much to her, the date of her cancer anniversary is more important, because so far she is a survivor. Besides cooking she has other interests too, crafts, gardening and soap making. She likes Zaar and is one of the hosts on the German-Benelux Forum here on RecipeZaar. She would like to thank everybody who tries and comments on the recipes she has posted on Recipezaar, your feedback is very much appreciated.
