Green Bean Bundles (Paula Deen)

"This recipe is from Paula Deen's show on Food TV. It looked like the perfect thing for Christmas dinner. It worked out great because I was able to blanch and bundle them and have them all ready to pop in the oven in advance. They looked as yummy as they were. Highly recommended!"

  1. I've had these for years (southern girl here), partially cook the bacon and blanche the green beans. For the holidays and something really special, I add garlic powder, a little brown sugar and some soy sauce! Makes it a sweet-sour flavor bomb! Here's a picture with the sauce drizzled on and ready to go in the oven! (I take the toothpicks out after they're cooked)

  2. These were excellent. I partially cooked the bacon first, and added a little bit of garlic powder when I seasoned the green beans. My bacon turned out very crisp and delicious!

  3. Easy and delicious. I did cook the bacon about halfway through before baking them with the green beans and I think that definitely helps crisp them up. Makes for a pretty presentation too! Thanks!

  4. Very flavorful!

  5. The flavors were nice, but I was disappointed that the bacon did not crisp for me either. This may be because I was using turkey bacon, but since that usually gets crisp for me when I cook it I think it just has something to do with cooking time. I will keep experimenting!

I live in the San Francisco area and love it here. I discovered Recipezaar (then Food.com..Genius Kitchen) in 2001 and have been so happy to have my favorite recipes stored safely here. I am mother to 7 and grandmother to 7. I love to knit, smock, sew, etc., but my favorite hobby of the moment is traditional rug hooking. This is a sample of what I do.? It's called "November".? I dyed most of the wool myself. It is made from wool flannel, cut into strips a little less than 1/4" and then worked into a linen backing. This is my 3rd rug.
