Green Bean Supreme

"I have been using this recipe for ages. I found it in the newspaper years ago and I like to make it when I have company as a side dish with whatever else I happen to be making, i.e. steak, chicken or chops. If you're a garlic lover, then just crush the cloves into the beans rather than leaving them whole."

  1. I altered the recipe a bit to suit my taste, but these were delicious!

  2. We have some vegetarians in our family so I left out the bacon and used no stick spray to cook the mushrooms. I also used fresh minced garlic instead of whole cloves. I was afraid that the beans wouldn't have much flavor with out the bacon so I added extra garlic. Everyone loved them. Even my little one who isn't a big bean fan. Thanks for the great recipe! We will be making this again and again!

  3. I trippled the recipe for a potluck with 28 adults + kids... only had 6 beans left in the pot at the end of the meal! My picky friend who hates green beans even like them and had some. This is a true crowd-pleaser. Will make next time, to go with pork chops #15117 - YUMMM!!

  4. It's oh so good!! Easy to make.

I love to cook and so I am thrilled that I found recipezaar. I work as an educational assistant in a food school so I am around food all day long. I have four children, three of which have already flown the coop so to speak but I still have my 'baby' at home. (He's 21). I am lucky in that I have my summers off so I spend a lot of time trying new recipes and catching up on my reading. I also play soccer in a ladies league to stay in shape.
