Green Chili Fries

"I love green chili, and french fries, and cheese 3 of my foods. All in one dish can't get any better than that. I make green chili at least once ever 2 months. I do not eat legumes (beans)......except for green beans. Any way this is how I like to make my chili cheese fries. Hope you all enjoy."

  1. What a fun side dish (actually my lunch, but shhh, don't tell anyone). Dipped these puppies in Salsa instead of ketchup and they are a real winner. For the Chili Sauce, I made up a batch of Recipe #18048 because there was none in my local grocery store. I did cheat and used Ore Ida frozen Extra Crispy fries. Made for ZWT4.

  2. What a great side dish! I used my potato chipper to cut the potatoes into french fries, then baked them in the oven before putting them in a pie dish and topping with the green chili sauce and cheese. To finish it, I topped it with some sour cream, guac and a few jalapenos. Delicious!

  3. This sounded so good, it just didn't quite meet my expectations. It was good, just not great. I used roasted potatoes cut in cubes. Sounds great, just not what I expected; others should definitely give it a try.

  4. Yumyumyumyumyumyum . . . I wasn't sure which "green chili sauce" you meant when I was at the grocery store, and after looking at green chili paste, green chili hot sauce, green chili enchilada sauce, green chiles, and green chili salsa, I decided to go with the salsa. I'm not sure if that's what you meant, but it was GOOD! I cut my potatoes into thick wedges, sprayed them heavily with cooking spray, and they probably took an hour to bake. I then promptly forgot to heat the salsa. Ah, well. After the broiling, this was so good, I don't think it would have been better if I did. I am very glad there are leftovers! Thank you for posting, Made for ZWT4.

  5. We loved this! I love it for ease and flavor! I baked the potatoes on a sprayed cookie sheet pan for 20 minutes. Didn`t heat the chili sauce,(I used just a can of green chili`s) Spread them on 4 medium potatoes and then topped with a taco blend of cheese. Nothing else is needed. This is the thing I would have loved after club-ing all night. Remember those days? Clubs then hitting the greasy spoon after! I don`t know how we did it! Thanks for an easy recipe and memories.

Hello, I am a married, no little ones, but great DH and 3 cats. Grew up in rural Nebraska with a family who loves to cook and eat. Trying to be healthier these days and lose some lbs. I do a lot of batch cooking (not quite OAMC). I am trying to get my sister to do it, she has 4 boys (14 to 6) very active and a husband. I love to collect recipes and cookbooks. I have decided that I am going to try to a new recipe each week. That will be 52 new things done this year. MY RATING SYSTEM: 5 stars: recipes that I or DH personally like . These will include recipes that I may have added or subtracted ingredients for personal tastes. 4 stars: recipes that I or DH thought was good & would eat if served to us, probably will not make again without changes. 3 stars: This is a dish that looks good but the flavor just is not there. More than likely will not make again 2 stars: Not our tastes at all. Not to say this recipe is not good just not for us. 1 star: I think that the we would have to end up in the hospital to give a 1 star rating, but will see how it goes.
