  1. In large kettle, cover beans with 2" water.
  2. Add garlic.
  3. Bring water to boil.
  4. Turn fire down to soft boil and cover.
  5. Cook 1 hour.
  6. When beans are soft, add onions and salt and simmer 1/2 hour - 1 hour more.
