I am 50% Slovak, and have only had this dish before when prepared by my Grandmother (Bubka) in the Slovak Republic. I took a stab myself with this recpie, and it comes very close...and tastes great. I sauteed the onions in the butter, and just added the cabbage once they just started to brown. Additionally I added some paprika to enhance the flavors (Bubka's secret). Also, in true Slovak style I served it with small drop dumplings. Will definitely make again!
