Hamburg Gravy

"No one will probably like this, but it was a staple recipe when I was growing up. My Mom used ground venison b/c we were poor and that's all we had. I still like to make it once in awhile, but I use ground beef. It's really easy and filling. My Mom only added the peas if she need to stretch it a little bit more. Time is a guess b/c I have never timed making it."

  1. Very good! I made this for lunch for DH, his dad and I and it was a hit just like long ago. I did add some onions and garlic along with salt and pepper and served it over mashed potatoes. Along side was a nice green salad. Thank you for the memories and I definately will make again. Made for Zaar Alphabet Soup Tag game.

  2. Love it! A nice simple go-to meal, I have made it multiple times and my kids love it.. thank you

  3. Yummy! My husband and I both loved this! I made it with corn instead of peas because I didn't have any.

  4. Sometimes the simplest ones are the best! I've had this and similar ones growing up. Stretches a dollar and open to all sorts of changes. I like it on egg noodles. Great for using up leftover veggies, too.

  5. This is very good! I didn't actually add any peas because I didn't have them, but did saute some onions in some butter then added the meat once they were caramelized... I also grew up eating this over mashed potatoes! YUMMY
