1. Dh loved this one. He started talking about it when he walked in the door because it smelled so good. He says it's a good stand-alone hamburger; it didn't need any other condiments. To me, the sauce is a barbecue flavor. I did simmer it for the full 2 hours and the burgers didn't dry out. There was just enough sauce to add a spoonful to each burger bun. I made them a bit ahead, poured off the grease, and refrigerated the sauce to congeal the fat. I just reheated it and the burgers when it was time for dinner.

 2. Frankly, I'm amazed. The recipe sounded like overcooked burgers in a simple sauce to me. They were excellent! I cut the recipe in half because there are only 3 of us. They were done, done, done in a hour on simmer. I served them in the traditional hamburger way on buns with mayo & mustard, tomatoes, lettuce & onions and added a spoon full of the sauce onto the top bun. I have enough sauce left over to do another three. I served them with cuban bean salad and oven fried french fries and we are stuffed and happy campers.

 3. Wonderful flavor, includes ingredients I keep on hand, smells heavenly while simmering and easy to prepare. Is great on a sesame seed bun. I'm going to try as a leftover with pasta with garlic bread. Thanks for posting!

 4. Try this variation: 1st- cook hamburger like you would when making tacos. 2nd- after hamburger is cooked add rest of ingrediants minus water, PLUS a little brown sugar. Serve over Hot Dogs or even over hamburgers. It looks a lot like Sloppy Joes or Manwhiches but is a little sweeter.

 5. This was OK, but I made them for my husband for Fathers day (today) and they just tasted like hamburgers with tons of ketchup. I'm sorry to rate this lower than usual, but I was not impressed with the taste. I would have rather made a plain burger and added my own ketchup. On a positive note, it did smell great while cooking! Sorry

I love to cook, but don't have a lot of time to do it, since I work full time. I like to try a new recipe every Saturday, if time allows.

I have one grown son and three grandaughters ages 16,10 and 3. The ten year old has won many medals in gymnastics meets over the past few years.
