directions

  • Grease 9x13-inch glass baking dish.
  • Thaw hash browns on paper towels on cookie sheet in oven at very low temperature, until defrosted.
  • If you leave them in the oven for a while, they will dry out pretty well.
  • Otherwise, press between layers of paper towels to get out excess moisture.
  • Turn oven heat up to 450°.
  • Press dry hash browns into 9x13-inch dish, including up sides, to form a solid crust.
  • Brush with melted butter--brush top edges, too.
  • Bake at 450° for 25 minutes.
  • Remove crust from oven and fill with layers of cheese and ham.
  • Beat milk with eggs and seasoned salt.
  • Pour over cheese and ham.
  • Reduce oven to 350° and bake 40 minutes, or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.
  • Slice into squares and serve warm.

  1. This was a pretty good breakfast casserole. We subbed cheddar for the jalapeno cheese. I think next time I'd add some chopped tomatoes, peppers, and onions to make it "western" style. Nice recipe to have on hand!

  2. This was really good and easy to make. I had 2 of my kids make it for their dad for Father's day. We didn't have swiss cheese so used chedder and colby mixed together. WONDERFUL STUFF!

I am a stay at home mom of 3 girls ages 16,14, and 12...My 16 year old has acted like she was 30 since she was 2, and strongwilled as well...so life is never dull around here. I love surfing the web and taking care of my children. If I had a month off I would take my kids to as many vacation spots as I could and enjoy our time together. Since my children are younger, I could use kid friendly recipes and delicious casserole dishes that I can make for me when I have to cater to their favorite foods. Recipezaar has inspired me to be interested in cooking and sharing recipes! Thanks My Pet Peeves~Don't Touch My Hair Or Feet!
