directions

 • Pour in skillet enough oil to liberally cover bottom of pan. Some times I add 1 tbs butter to help crisp them. Heat on medium high heat until very hot.
 • Mix together onion and potatos. CAREFULLY place in pan (grease will spatter). Spread to edges with spatula patting and forming into circle. Fry until bottom is golden brown then turn over. Fry other side until golden brown. Remove onto plate lined with paper towels to remove excess oil. Turn onto clean plate.
 • Salt and pepper Served with desired topping Topping Suggestions: (choose one) sour cream and chopped green onions, shredded cheddar cheese and bacon bits, Ketchup mustard.

 1. My favorite way to cook hash browns! Nice and crispy golden brown on the outside, tender in the middle, with a genorous dose of ketchup!

 2. I made these today for the first time and oh so good! I know I wont be buying hash browns anymore from the store..

I added lots of seasoning to it also. Used a sieve to squeeze out all the potato juice as well...

Thanks for sharing...

 3. Very good, and very easy! I decided to fry mine up in small batches it was just easier for me. I put the potatoes and onions in a colander and mixed them together and put them over a bowl to drain so that way the splatter of the "potato juices" didn't get me, it worked out great and my potatoes were nice and crisp. Thanks, this was made for PAC Fall 2007.

 4. This is good, still pretty oily after leaving on a paper towel though. I used canola oil. Some potato was left soft but cooked. I'd make another recipe if I were to make hash browns again.

 5. Yummy! Enjoyed these for lunch today. Served along side bacon and toast. I love potatoes and onions, where can a person go wrong? Thanks for posting. Made for Fall 07 Photo tag.
