  1. Brown ground beef in a large saucepan. Drain the fat and mix in remaining ingredients.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil and reduce heat. Simmer, covered, for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Cool and freeze in a 16-cup container.
  4. To prepare for serving, thaw stew and then bring to a boil. Reduce heat, simmer 10 minutes.
  5. Suggested sides: Parsnip fries.
