  1. 07/04/09: I subbed 1/4 c canola oil for the 1/2 c shortening and these turned out great! This batch only needed to bake ten minutes. The dough was very sticky prior to rolling, but a generous amount of flour made it work out perfectly. Thank you for a keeper! 07/05/09: Since mmy hens lay large eggs, today I used only 1/2 cup of milk. The dough was perfect! These popover type biscuits are just wonderful and oh, so easy.

  2. I have a similar recipe from when I was growing up called Sky High biscuits that uses WWF. But I wanted to use milk and shortening (thank goodness for the ingredient filter!). I made these for a dinner last night, went like hotcakes! Almost like the KFC biscuit I had earlier (which had got me in the biscuit mood). I would omit the butter on top, wasn't really needed. But SO good, going to be my staple!

  3. these are so good and so easy to make. i had a little grainyness in the texture but that wass probably because i didn't sift the drey ingredients. will do next time. they rose perfectly and were so flaky.

  4. This was great!! This is the first time I have ever made homemade biscuits. Was stressing out over all the other recipes and came across this one and decided what the heck. WOW. I am so proud of myself I hope I can duplicate it. I will never buy biscuts again. Thank you soo much!!! Will be making these a lot

  5. These are very good biscuits.I did make a few changes.I add another 50% on the ingrediants. Also, I replaced 1/4 of the shortening with butter. It made 10 wonderfull 3" biscuits.
