Reviews

  1. I read the other reviews and noticed they were all used in pies and things like that. I went to make fettuccine Alfredo only to realize I forgot the heavy cream. So I googled for substitutes and stumbled upon this. I'm not going to lie I was skeptical and fully prepared to have to order pizza if this didn't work. I doubled the recipe and it worked out great. However because Alfredo sauce already has butter in it next time I will add a little less butter. I did add a little bit of flour to thicken it up a little bit. I will definitely be using this again.

  2. I used this to substitute heavy cream in my Chicken Pot Pie recipe (I forgot to buy the heavy cream when grocery shopping). It worked wonderfully. The only thing I did differently was to add a tablespoon of flour (I used skim milk). Thanks for posting this...it saved our meal. I will be using this recipe again.

  3. I don't even keep margarine on hand anymore! Real butter only. As is common among a lot of low-fat substitutes, the real thing is healthier according to recent research.

  4. I tried this during the COVID-19 quarantine. I wanted to make a soup that called for 1 cup of heavy cream. I followed the very simple directions and it worked like a charm! I can't thank you enough for sharing this recipe. It'll now be my go-to recipe for heavy cream!

  5. I did not read all of the reviews and did not see if anybody has mentioned this already. 3/4 cup and 1/3 cup do not equal to 1 cup. It is over 1 cup. Do you mean 3/4 cup milk and 1/4 margarine or butter? I think it's better if I just go to the store and get the real thing.

Tweaks

  1. I'm so glad I found this!! The hubby went shopping for dinner and poor baby bought whipped cream instead of heavy whipping cream... This is going to save dinner tonight ( and a trip to the store for me) :-) THANKS FOR POSTING!!!

  2. I no longer use margarine for this recipe but use butter instead since I no longer use margarine. Both work wonderful in this recipe.
