- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon dried dried fine herb, crushed (Italian, basil, thyme, etc.)
- 1 1⁄4 cups water
- 2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
directions
- Combine 1 1/2 cups of the flour, the yeast, and fine herbes. Heat together the water, butter or margarine, sugar, and salt just till warm (115 to 120 degrees), stirring till butter almost melts. Add to yeast mixture. Beat at low speed of electric mixer for 1/2 minute, scraping bowl constantly. Beat 3 minutes at high speed. Stir in remaining flour. Cover; let rise till double. Stir down dough. Spread evenly in greased 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan. Cover; let rise till double. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 35 to 40 minutes. Remove from pan; cool on wire rack.

I live in the middle of wheat fields. Have a small garden of which I plant my favorite vegetables. The summer months are spent in the garden and in the kitchen..especially during August for canning season. At present I am a stay at home mom. I love to write. And I do a lot of sewing.
