Hippocras (Non-Alcoholic)

"Hippocras is a medieval spiced drink traditionally made with wine, but the Society for Creative Anachronism feast we attended served this non-alcoholic version of it. I imagine would be as delicious hot as it was cold! A yummy and unique alternative to iced tea or mulled cider."

  1. I always enjoy making a recipe that has some real history to it, & then, when the result tastes as good as this drink does, that's an additional bonus! We had it ice cold, & it was a wonderful change from our usual lemonade & Southern-sweet ice tea! Definitely a winner! Thanks for sharing it! [Made & reviewed in Zaar Cookbook Tag]

  2. This is an awesome drink. I served it both ways over the course of the afternoon, it was wonderful warm but I prefered the iced version. This is truly a taste experience. I really enjoyed the flavor produced by the different spices and the rosemary, they blended perfectly with the apple juice. A unique, sweet, spicy, refreshing drink that shouldn't be missed. Thanks very much for sharing Anissa. Into my keeper box this goes.
